Hibs quartet strengthens European push

Martin Boyle remains a talismanic figure for Hibernian, netting in their 3-0 triumph over St Johnstone as the club tightened their grip on third place in the Scottish Premiership. The victory leaves Hibs in a European qualification spot, with Boyle's form a key driving force behind their late-season charge.

Boyle's goal takes his tally to 15 across all competitions this season, equalling his most prolific campaign for the club. It's a remarkable turnaround for the Socceroo, who endured a frustrating, injury-plagued start to the season. However, Boyle's determination to hit a 100-goal milestone for the club remains unwavering, even if time is against him with only seven games remaining.

"He's chasing down this 100 goals for the club, so he's going to have to go some to get there before the end of the season, but he's got seven games left to do it, and he's definitely hungry enough to want to try and do it," Hibernian boss David Gray said on Boyle.

Boyle was subbed off in the 74th minute, appearing less than thrilled at the decision, but his contribution was undeniable. Meanwhile, Lewis Miller, Nectarios Triantis, and Jack Iredale completed 90 minutes in a dominant performance for Hibs.

As the season nears its end, speculation surrounds Boyle’s future. His contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign, and while he remains a cult hero at Easter Road, there is no certainty he will extend his stay.

Reports have previously suggested a stint in the A-League Men could be on the cards. But for now, Hibernian fans will hope their star man can spearhead one final push for European football.

McGowan and Yengi claim silverware

Livingston produced a dominant display in the Scottish Challenge Cup Final, dismantling Queen's Park 5-0 to lift the trophy. Australian defender Ryan McGowan played the full 90 minutes, offering stability at the back as Livingston cruised to victory.

Meanwhile, Tete Yengi was a standout performer who played a crucial role in Livingston's second and third goals. The Australian forward found the back of the net before turning provider for another, showcasing his attacking threat on the big stage.

It was a statement win for Livingston, and the contributions of McGowan and Yengi will undoubtedly have caught the eye as they continue their respective campaigns in Scotland.

Carter's crucial winner

Anthony Carter again found himself on the scoresheet, netting the decisive goal in FC Alverca's 1-0 victory over Feirense. The win keeps Alverca in third place in Liga Portugal 2, just one point shy of an automatic promotion spot.

Carter's goal tally now stands at 14 for the season, making him the league's outright top scorer. His clinical finishing has been instrumental in Alverca's promotion push.

With the race for the top two heating up, Carter's contributions will be crucial during the campaign's final stretch.

Other notable Aussies abroad mentions

  • Mary Fowler assisted Manchester City's opening goal in their clash against Brighton & Hove Albion, who fellow Aussie Dario Vidosic manages.

  • Joe Montemurro's Olympique Lyon remains undefeated across all competitions with just five (or potentially six, if they reach the UEFA Women's Champions League Final) matches left in their season.

  • Having played her part in a defence that has conceded only five league goals all season, Ellie Carpenter has been ever-present in Montemurro's side. She is in serious contention to win a league and Champions League double while going the entire campaign unbeaten.
